Printing an image in full-color is a complicated process involving a number of steps. (PMS) Pantone Matching System®

The Pantone Matching System® is the industry standard for selecting, matching, and mixing color. The Pantone System utilizes 11 basic colors to achieve over 1000 different colors that are used by printers and art departments. So, the PMS Color Guide provides the user with valuable information regarding ink mixing formulas for each pantone color on coated or uncoated stock.

 

The basic colors that used are yellow, warm red, rubine red, rhodamine red, purple, violet, reflex blue, process blue, green, black, and transparent white, which looks clear.The Pantone Matching System® Color Guide is an indispensable tool for printers and designers. The guide provides swatches for all of the colors that can be attained using the Pantone System. Included in the guide are the 11 basic colors which are in front of the book, followed by the process colors used in 4-color process printing, then hundreds of colors that can be mixed from the basics, and finally the fluorescent and metallic colors.

PANTONE Hexachrome® system

PANTONE Hexachrome® system is one of the high fidelity color system which uses Orange and Green in addition to enhanced versions of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. The use of the six high-fidelity (Hexachrome) colors gamut exceeds of CMYK increases the range of color by 20% and provides improvement in transitions between colors in order to reproduce rich, vibrant solid colors, realistic skin tones and elegant pastels. The Hexachrome® system is capable of accurately reproducing over 90% of the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® Colors, almost twice the number that can be obtained using conventional four-color process printing.

Note:  Any Pantone Color Guide should be replaced after a year,

because the printed colors in the swatch book will shift or fade
